Courage to Wait!

WEEKLY SPIRITUAL VITAMIN:
I want to talk today about the “Courage to wait.” So many times we get in a hurry because it looks like the Lord is not going to answer our prayers; that its taking too long for you to receive the promise. My favorite song is the Goodness of God, and the lyrics talk about how His goodness never fails because we are held in His Hands. Growing up on a farm in Virginia, I saw my parents working hard to get a harvest, from plowing to planting to harvest. Can you imagine them sowing those seeds, hoping for a good end, and a rich harvest so of course they had to work hard even when they couldn’t see the end. In our scripture today the Jews returned to Jerusalem after almost 70 years in exile and faced a similar situation. The temple was ruined and rebuilding it seemed impossible.
The people needed hope to renew their imaginations for the hard work ahead. I want to share with you that your hard work for the Kingdom will pay off! God said, “I am with you” that was to give them hope of His presence and power. He “stirred up the spirit,” of Joshua and Zerubbabel , and also did the same for the people (Hag,1:13-15.) Then He gave a word about waiting -He said that things would change “in a little while.” For them to see the glory ahead, God told them to take courage and work. Then He promised, “The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former…in this place I will give peace.” (2:49) Lets remember God’s plan for us when our hope gets weak, His plan is to make the “latter glory” greater! Speak these words over your life today…”HIS GOODNESS AND BLESSING IS ABOUT TO DOUBLE ON MY LIFE” Don’t get in a hurry, “WAIT!”
